Review and revise as needed to improve the following:
- the clarity of ideas and information
- the development of ideas and information
- organizational pattern and structure
- style that is consistent and appropriate for purpose and audience (formal, informal, or semi-formal)
- diction that is precise, objective, and creates an appropriate tone
- sentence effectiveness, including use of parallel constructions and the placement of phrases
- sentence effectiveness, including placement of dependent clauses
Review and edit as needed for the following:
- to include a variety of complete, controlled sentences
- to avoid unintentional splices
- to avoid unintentional run-ons
- to avoid unintentional fragments
- to use semicolons (;) to set off phrases and clauses as appropriate
- to use colons (:) to set off phrases and clauses as appropriate
- to use dashes (—) to set off phrases and clauses as appropriate
- to use commas (,) to set off clauses as appropriate
